SCRIPTORIUM
Literary education and passion made accessible
ABOUT
Scriptorium is a 501(c)(3) fiscally-sponsored nonprofit organization based in San Diego, California aiming to make literary education accessible to all. Through our free and inexpensive resources, tutoring sessions, and academic programs, we aim to invigorate youth with a passion for literature. Literature is an art form that brings a multitude of benefits to youth, from education to entertainment, and is a joy that everyone deserves without being hindered by financial barriers. We work to make literary education and books available to all youth.

OUR MISSION
Scriptorium aims to make literary education accessible to all. Through our trained tutors, summer program educators, and content writers, our goal is to spread increase literacy and make literary education accessible to all youth.
In order to mitigate the negative impacts of underfunding in schools and the deprivation of resources like books for youth, Scriptorium uses money raised through education programs and fundraisers to donate books to our local communities.

FISCAL SPONSORSHIP
Scriptorium is incredibly privileged to be fiscally-sponsored by The Hack Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 81-2908499).

Through this fiscal sponsorship, Scriptorium is able to operate as a charitable project under The Hack Foundation’s 501(c)(3) status. This means that while Scriptorium runs its own programs and initiatives, all donations and grants are tax-deductible through The Hack Foundation, which provides administrative and financial oversight to ensure compliance with federal nonprofit regulations.
ABOUT QUIZ BOWL
Many of our staff are participants of Quiz Bowl, a national team-based competition on academic subjects like literature, science, and history. This has allowed our staff to hone their skill on studying and memorizing information, working and communicating effectively with peers, and has allowed them to discover their passion for specialized subjects like literature. We hope our passionate and hardworking staff will translate these skills to your student through our academic programs.
