Emi Tachibana

FOUNDER, PRESIDENT, EDITOR IN CHIEF

I am currently a senior at UCHS and have specialized in Quiz Bowl literature since my freshman year. Being a part of Quiz Bowl has helped me foster my knowledge and my passion for literature and has inspired me to found Scriptorium. As a non-native English speaker, literature has not only allowed me to hone my skill in English, but has also has kindled my love for the arts. I hope to make Scriptorium an accessible tool for people to gain literary education easily without being hindered by financial or locational barriers. Outside of Quiz Bowl, I enjoy doing research and playing the violin.

Anne Lawrence

CO-FOUNDER AND VICE PRESIDENT

I am currently a senior at UCHS and have been a part of quiz bowl since my freshman year. It has allowed me to expand my knowledge across a wide variety of subjects and nurture my love of literature. Besides Quiz Bowl, I like to sing, perform musicals, and volunteer. I hope to use Scriptorium to grow my literary knowledge and use my passion for literature to help make books and literary knowledge widely accessible to my community.

Adam Bergstrom

TREASURER

I am a junior at University City High School, in my third year in quizbowl. I started my freshman year knowing mostly STEM topics, but was introduced to a much larger pool of knowledge including literature, sparking interest and curiosity. This led me to Scriptorium, where this interest and curiosity for literature has thrived. Scriptorium has thus fostered in me a deep knowledge of and appreciation for the vast world of literature. I hope to channel this passion to help give back to my community, and allow everyone to access literature the way I have through Scriptorium.

I am currently a senior at UCHS. I joined Scriptorium because I believe that everyone should have equal access to literature and should be able to foster a love for reading. Outside of Scriptorium, I enjoy acting, reading, and spending time with my friends. I hope to use Scriptorium to help make literature more accessible to all and to encourage people to take a greater interest in reading.

Shuyu Jiang

SECRETARY, COMMUNICATIONS LEAD

I am a senior at University City High School. I joined Scriptorium because of my love for reading and analyzing fiction. I believe there is always something to learn from literature and that knowledge serves as a window for you to observe the world from a different angle. A good work of literature can change the way I see the world for the rest of my life, and I believe it could do the same for others. Outside of school I enjoy digital art and reading. I hope to be able to support my community and provide everyone the opportunity to gain access to literature.

I am a senior from Morris, Oklahoma. As well as a literature quizbowl specialist for the Morris Academic Team, I've recently found joy in volunteering my time for nonprofit organizations such as this one. I want to help as much as possible, and to the best of my abilities. It's an honor to be apart of an organization as unique and relevant to my life as Scriptorium is! I'm ready to have some fun!

Alexis Soto

WRITER, EDITOR, TUTOR

I am a Junior, rising Senior, Quiz Bowl player from the state of Missouri who focuses in Literature, Science, and Math, with Literature being my main focus. I never was so interested in Literature because English is my second language and it hurt my head to read so many unknown words in works such as Shakespeare plays. However, online summaries helped me become proficient at it. I adopted many flashcards and gained a good understanding about many books in the past years. In addition, I have a good understanding of Python as a programming language. I hope to join an organization like this in order to help people interested in being better players by facilitating the information they will need!

I am currently a junior at MBHS and have participated in Quiz Bowl since my freshman year. Doing so has helped deepen my knowledge of literature, among other subjects. Other than Quiz Bowl, I enjoy playing the piano, reading, and solving puzzles. I hope to help expand Scriptorium to bring literary knowledge to a broader audience.

I am passionate about literature, and although I spend more time on Certamen than quiz bowl, I do believe that there is a need for better resources in this field (there are a lot of literature questions in Certamen). I love to write and edit, and I do both for my school's Latin newspaper, and our general one. I am also in the book club, where we analyze texts. By working as an editor, I believe I could make information more understandable, and easier to access. By joining Scriptorium, I will do my best to make literature more understandable and easier to access for all.

I am a current junior at Kickapoo High School in Missouri and I specialize in fine arts and literature in scholar bowl. I find reading and literature in general very fascinating. I also find online summaries of books extremely helpful when it comes to studying, which is why an organization like this is so important to me.
